Godzilla: King of the Monsters

The 35th Godzilla movie to date, finally sets up a battle between Godzilla and King Kong.
If you really think about it, this franchise is much like Transformers, in that ancient beings find themselves in the 21st century, and kill millions if not billions of humans, with some loving them and other loathing them. The predominant issue in the Transformers saga and the 2014 Godzilla film was the excessive focus on the human characters. To be frank, no one cares about the human characters in these films. They are not the main attraction, and tend to be poorly written anyway. What this movie does well is that the monsters like Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah get to have a sizeable amount of screen time.

Godzilla asserts dominance
The character motivations, actions and dialogue in this movie are pitiful but it does not really matter all that much in this franchise. If you are able to tune out the terrible decision making of characters, the impossibility of characters cheating death numerous times and the overall lack of story telling quality, you will have an absolute blast. I couldn't help but feel constantly annoyed at the movie. Beyond that, the lighting is pretty awful and it was hard to keep track of action at times. Nonetheless, seeing the amazingly designed monsters duke it out was quite a spectacle, and after all that's what I came to see, and that's what I got.
