The following document contains notes from 33 YouTube videos that focus on men's styling & some lifestyle videos. To first give some context, I have never bothered to delve into fashion / styling. From Kindergarten to Primary School to Secondary School to Junior College to Singapore Armed Forces, I have always been in uniform. For 16 years, all I ever did was alter my pants to at a skinny fit. I never understood how people could be so fascinated by clothes nor did I even know what made fits look good. Needless to say, being a 20 year old in the 2020s, I am now conscious of my outward appearance to others. In army, I had a branchmate who was into luxury streetbrands. He introduced me to ASOS, END Clothing, Hypebeast & Farfetch. Thereafter, I became entrenched in the mindset that the key to fashion was branding. I proceeded to do minimal research into fashion, watching videos on streetwear every so often. I ultimately spent a couple of hundred bucks on clothes from ASOS & END Clothing. Granted, they were not just streetwear pieces, but I still was not really sure of what I was doing. On a particular outing to watch some friend’s dance performance at NUS, I finally tried to style myself with what limited pieces I had. I went with the ever-safe, ever-basic & classic look of just a white-black-white combo. It was a snoopy pocket white tee that fit perfectly, skinny ripped black jeans, your standard Stan Smiths & a black reflective Carhatt WIP Shoulder bag. I actually felt a huge confidence boost from this fit. For once, I looked in the mirror & it seemed that I actually knew what I was doing. Approximately 6 months since then, I have finally made it a goal of mine to read up on styling. In hopes that I can finally dress up well on a consistent basis & eventually develop my own taste & style. To be frank, I am doing this to control my outward appearance, which feels a tad bit superficial of myself. Another reason is the fact that I would like to have another interest to add to my disposal. One cannot simply stick with Football as his interest for all his life. Or at the very least, I can’t. Anyway, here are the notes for 9 videos from randos & 24 videos from this one Asian dude who is perfect for me to follow. While I do not have the facial hair he possesses, at least we are both 5'7 & Asian. That works for me.
